What is the Weather Like in Narragansett, RI?

Summer

Summer weather in Narragansett is the hottest time of year, which probably isn’t a surprise. From June through August, temperatures tend to stay between 60 and 80 degrees, giving you excellent conditions to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. You might find that you need a light jacket in the morning or evening, but other than that, you’re likely to be comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt. You can also expect this season to feel quite long since the summertime can bring around 15 hours of daylight in a 24-hour period!

Fall

In the fall, things start to cool down a bit in Narragansett. In the early part of fall, beginning in September, temperatures still feel similar to the summer conditions. However, in October and November, temperatures can get down into the 40s. In the heart of fall, high temperatures typically hover around 50 degrees. During this season, you’ll want to plan to pack plenty of layers so you can be prepared for anything. The good news is that you won’t have much precipitation to worry about; the average chance of rainfall on any given day is only around 20%.

Winter

If you’re wondering about Narragansett weather in the winter, one word summarizes it perfectly: cold. From December through February, temperatures can get down into the low 20s and rarely ever peak above 40 degrees.

You’ll want to pack your heavy coat and sturdy snow boots if you plan to visit in the winter! This is going to be the time of year when you can enjoy some of the great winter activities in the area, but keep in mind that you’ll have limited daylight hours to do so. Winter tends to bring only around 9 hours of daylight per day.

Spring

Finally, we come to spring. Things start to come alive again, and temperatures slowly heat up as the season progresses. In March, temperatures are still only around the 30s or 40s, but by the end of May, it’s not uncommon to see temperatures up into the 70s. Remember that spring is the wettest season here in Narragansett, but that’s not saying much; the average chance of rain on any given day is only around 30%. You should be more than comfortable in nothing more than a light jacket, even when the rain does come.
