Summer 2021 Events in Narragansett, Rhode Island

After a year of heavy COVID-19 restrictions, the entire town is excited to welcome back tourists, and there are many exciting activities in store to celebrate the return to normal life. Here are some of the top summer events in Narragansett, RI, for you to experience this season! 

The Gazebo Concert Series

At last, we can listen to live music again in groups! The summer concert series in Gazebo Park runs from June until Labor Day. Concerts are free, family-friendly, and open to the public. Grab a lawn chair or picnic blanket and settle in for a great time! Concerts take place on Fridays starting at 6 p.m.

In June, come see Reckless Blues, featuring classic swing, jazz, and Blues tunes with a Duo playing the American Songbook. Big Boom Daddies will let you dance to some high-energy classic rock and swing! Marcy Pierce. Then, enjoy the lively sound of Celtic originals with Marcy Pierce!

In July, anticipate a lively blend of blistering horns, dynamic vocals, soul, rock, pop, Motown, and R&B with Brass Attack. Later, come for the seductive sounds of the renowned jazz performer Dan Hammond & The Hammond Boys. Finally, Take it to the Bridge is a high-energy/rock cover band from Southern Rhode Island that you won’t want to miss.

In August, the Black Tie Band brings nostalgic callback to all the best classics. The James Montgomery Band always delivers legendary Blues! The Airplay Band brings you everything from R&B to oldies to country rock. Then, don’t miss the talented locals with killer vocals who make up CBD!

Finally, at the beginning of September, the Jesse Liam Band brings you all the latest hits along with classics like the Beatles, Rod Stewart, and Grateful Dead.

Movies on the Beach

Every Wednesday, starting from June 30 and running until August 25, enjoy free movies on the big screen. And what better place to watch a movie than on the beach? Movies start at dusk, between 8:15 p.m. and 8:45 p.m., and are located at 79 Boston Neck Road. Movie titles range from the 1950’s Father of the Bride, to Beauty and the Beast, to Captain Marvel. Bring your popcorn or purchase it on-site. Food trucks are available in the North Lot. This is family-friendly fun at its very best! 

The Blessing of the Fleet

Since the summer of 1972, the Narragansett Lions Club has hosted a beloved 2-day festival that includes a certified road race, a festive parade of boats, great food, and live music. In 2017, the event expanded to 3 days for an extra day of exciting activities. 

This year, the festival takes place from Thursday, July 22, to Saturday, July 24. The in-person 10-mile road race takes place on Friday, July 23, while the virtual event lasts from Saturday to Sunday. The course takes competitors through the historic streets of Narragansett in what is listed as one of the top races of New England. The entrance fee is $40. The Blessing of the Fleet will be held on Saturday, July 24 at starts at 10 a.m. This colorful event features a parade of decorated commercial and recreational watercraft, both large and small. Each boat is blessed by a local clergyman as they pass. Spectators are invited to watch and cheer along the breachway wave. The event is free to watch.

The Bobby Doyle Summer Classic Road Race

The Bobby Doyle Summer Classic 5-mile run or walk course is a must for any outdoor enthusiasts, as are the many Narragansett hiking trails. The course leads you through scenic Narragansett with panoramic ocean views. The first 500 registered runners to complete the race will receive a custom Bobby Doyle race medal, and all registered participants will receive a technical T-shirt. There are beverages and snacks as well as cash prizes for the top finishers.
